Ross Ferris grew up on a 10,000-acre cattle property in Queensland, spending his youth riding horses, working the land, and competing in pony club and camp drafting. After earning a degree in Economics from James Cook University, he joined MIM Holdings in 1988, working across Mount Isa, Brisbane, Darwin, and Indonesia in mining services for over eight years. In 2001, Ross completed an MBA at Melbourne Business School and joined Healthscope, where he played a pivotal role in acquisitions, integrations, and strategic growth, helping the company expand from 12 to 52 hospitals. His interest in aged care, sparked during his MBA studies, led him to fully dedicate himself to the sector by 2009. Throughout his career, Ross has worked with exceptional people and organisations, making meaningful contributions to healthcare and aged care.
Today, Ross is the owner and founder of Autumn Age Care, one of Victoria's largest aged care centers. In 2012, he established Two Bays Farm as a passion project to balance his professional endeavors. Two Bays Farm was created to breed and nurture high-quality racehorses. Initially agisting mares in the Hunter Valley, Ross soon acquired a stunning 200-acre property in Flinders, Victoria, transforming it into a purpose-built sanctuary for horses. The farm prioritises equine welfare with carefully designed facilities, including paddock shelters, lunges, walkers, improved pastures, and thoughtfully planned tree planting.
Focusing on quality over quantity, Two Bays Farm manages a select group of elite mares while constantly refining breeding, nutrition, and horse handling practices. Recent investments in the broodmare band reflect a commitment to producing top-tier racehorses. Strong relationships with trainers, breeders, and industry professionals have been integral to the farm’s success, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement. The journey of Two Bays Farm is driven by hard work, dedication, and a commitment to excellence, creating a haven for horses and a special place for those who care for them.
